Former MX2 Spanish Champion Carlos Campano will open his second season with the British Utag Yamaha.com squad in 2008. The 22 year old from Sevilla made his world championship debut in 2003 and remains the leading campaigner from the Iberian Peninsula in MX2.
Campano enjoys a popular status within his native competition and finally rose to the rank of champion in 2006 after winning eight from fourteen motos. A high profile move to the Bike it Dixon team hit rocky ground when a pre-season knee injury meant he struggled for fitness for the opening half of the world championship. He picked up his first points of 2007 by round ten, but it had been a long and hard path back to race speed. He also missed three rounds of the Spanish series and dropped out of the final top ten.
Finishing down in 31st Campano will be using his second chance on the YZ250F to re-establish his credentials and restore some Spanish pride in the MX2 category.
